I have 15 meals per week, i never use them all at the dining hall, but my school allows me to use them other places on campus so i can grab a snack and some coffee a couple times a week between class or use them at the little store for snacks for my room. i would say you don't need more than 15 per week

For my freshman through junior years, I was on the meal plan at my school. My school's meal plans are contract based, so you pay all at once for unlimited access to four dining halls (along with a few other perks) for 7 days (every meal except for Sunday dinner).

I hated going to the dining halls during dinner rush and on the weekends because it would be really crowded. So I ended up eating out or ordering in a lot.

This year I did not purchase a meal plan contract, and I also live off campus. And there are retail eateries on campus at convenient locations if I need to grab something between classes.

I'd say a meal plan is most worth it if you live on campus, and don't want to cook and clean dishes.

I am in my freshmen year right now. At my college you either have 15 meals a week or unlimited. Then at the end of the week you can redeem your meals at a Snack/ Meal store on campus. I would suggest to get the meal plan with less meals. You have to think, Are you going to wake up extra early to go eat breakfast or will you eat cereal in your dorm. It depends on your schedule and on yourself. You know yourself the best so make a good inference on how much you'll eat in a week!

Good Luck!

At my school, you choose between the 14 meal and 19 meal plan (no breakfast on the weekends; there is just brunch - because who wakes up early on a Saturday??).

I have the 19 meal plan and could not survive without it. I have 8am class and still wake up for breakfast, because if I don't, I'm going crazy by my 10am.

Friends that have the 14 meal plan enjoy theirs too, but they love it when they skip a meal and can then go to breakfast with me.

I'd definitely recommend the one with more meals.

My Freshman year I got the max plan (it was required) for 14 meals a week, plus 250 Dining points, 1 point = 1 dollar. I used it for the majority of the year until the food stopped agreeing with me Sad...I would say it's worth it if you live on campus and don't have cooking facilities (or even if you do it is essentially free food). The food may not have been great quality, but it is unlimited servings of "Free food."
Meal plans aren't really worth it. My school requires us to sign up for the unlimited meal plan if we're incoming freshmen... so I picked the one with less dining dollars because it was cheaper. Older students are allowed to get the 10 meals a week plan with more dining dollars, which makes a lot more sense... especially to me, when I usually only eat at the dining halls for a meal of two a day. It's just a lot easier to have my own food. It was, overall, kind of a rip off.
