The Naked Roommate

The season is upon us -- high school students are receiving acceptance and/or rejection letters. As the letters arrive, emotions run wild. I'd love to hear from college students who have been there and done it and college bound students who will soon be experiencing it. For current students, share where you applied, who accepted you, who rejected you, and how you made your choices. For college bound high school students, share who accepted you, who didn't and any questions you might have while making this decistion.

Well I got accepted to Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. I also got accepted to 10 other colleges.

What made me decide was really what I knew about the college. Its website was much better than any other of the colleges I looked at, and by better, I men more accessible. My ultimate choice that I narrowed it down to was the cheapest school in Indiana, Ball State, and an expensive private college.

While I have heard that it doesn't really matter where you spend your undergrad years, I believe you get what you pay for, and I have heard great things about BSU's curriculum.

I go on my official tour this Friday. I am so excited

I am a current Senior at Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, FL

I applied to the University of Central Florida, University of Florida, Vanderbilt University, and Saint Leo.  I was only accepted to UCF and SLU, and the reason I chose SLU was because of the offered financial package.  They did not have Engineering, but the price difference was a bit hard to ignore.  I had a 3.8 unweighted (4.2 weighted) with a 1200 on my SAT.. I was as average as white males come.. My choice was solely made on the money and I have come to love Saint Leo, its a nice small school (smaller than my high school) with an awesome student-teacher relationship and ratio.  Its great for business, which is my major.

Any other questions feel free to ask!

I applied and was accepted to University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, University of Wisconsin-Platteville, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and Northern Michigan University (where I am enrolled now).
I am originally from Wisconsin, so I applied to a lot of the in-state schools simply because of in-state tuition, and where they had my major. UWSP was in my hometown, so I really wasn't that serious about going there: it was my last resort, to be honest. Green Bay, Platteville, and Whitewater were all nice schools, but I ultimately picked NMU. I realized I needed to get out of Wisconsin and spread my wings a bit. I needed some distance between me and home, and Northern was the most logical pick for me. The facilities for the art department were incomparable as well, and I loved the town Northern was in. They also had a marching band, which was a big selling point for me.
Now that I've been here for almost two years, I can't imagine leaving. I know I made the right choice, and I'm loving every second of being here, even if I'm paying out-of-state tuition.

During my college search I visited 20 schools and applied to 12 including, Haverford College, Ursinus College, The College of New Jersey, Monmouth University, DeSale's University and many more. I was always looking for the 'perfect school.' One that was highly academic and allowed me to continue my career in field hockey.

Haverford was my first choice. It was beautiful and very accredited. I was so excited when I got accepted! Then the financial aid packet arrived-- and I felt crushed. Haverford wanted me to pay full price for my education and I just couldn't afford it.

Taking a second look at my options I revisited many of the other colleges I applied for and ended up falling in love with Muhlenberg. It is everything I wished for and more! Looking back at my college search experience I am glad that I ended up at Muhlenberg College. My best advice for college bound high school students is this: Picking a college to attend is ALOT like buying a prom dress. You will try on lots of dresses that are all different colors and styles, but when you find the right one- you will know :)

I was accepted to all the out-of-state schools I applied to but, none of my in-state-schools wanted me :(

Accepted:
University of Idaho

University of Central Arkansas

North Dakota State University

Rejected:

Oregon State University

University of Oregon

Southern Oregon University

Portland State University

Quite a bit of people didn't want me but, oh well. I'll be attending NDSU this fall. Their programs and school system is 10000x better then the schools in Oregon.

I got accepted to all the schools that I applied to (Ball State, Purdue, Columbia Chicago, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Southern Illinois University, Illinois State University, and University of Cincinnati) except one (DePaul) which was my favorite school out of the bunch when I had applied. Once I received their decision, though, I wasn't bothered because I had seen all the other campuses and had fallen in love with Cincinnati.

I kept my mind open even though I looooved DePaul and I'm glad that I did, because as soon as I visited Cincinnati I knew it was perfect.
